The Opportunity

We are supporting an NHS Trust in Wales with the appointment of a Locum Consultant in Obstetrics & Gynaecology.

This is an excellent opportunity for a suitably qualified Consultant to join an established Obstetrics & Gynaecology service and provide high-quality clinical care across both specialties.

The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, contributing to the delivery of safe and effective services throughout the assignment, including participation in the full rota.

The Role

The successful candidate will provide Consultant-level Obstetrics & Gynaecology services across the Trust.

The role will include:

• Assessment and management of Obstetric and Gynaecology patients
• Providing Consultant-level clinical decision-making, diagnosis and treatment
• Managing acute and emergency Obstetric presentations
• Supporting antenatal and postnatal services
• Providing general Gynaecology services as required
• Participating in the full Obstetrics & Gynaecology on-call rota
• Supporting delivery suite and emergency Obstetric services
• Providing senior clinical advice and support to the wider medical team
• Working collaboratively with midwives, nursing staff and the wider multidisciplinary team
• Supporting and supervising junior medical staff
• Maintaining accurate and comprehensive clinical documentation
• Contributing to clinical governance, audit and service improvement activities
• Ensuring safe, high-quality and patient-centred care

What We're Looking For

Essential Requirements

• Full GMC registration with licence to practise
• Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, or relevant experience for a locum appointment
• Previous NHS Consultant-level experience in Obstetrics & Gynaecology
• Broad experience across both Obstetrics and Gynaecology
• Experience managing acute and emergency Obstetric presentations
• Ability to participate effectively in a full Consultant on-call rota
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Excellent communication and clinical decision-making skills
• Commitment to delivering high-quality patient-centred care

Desirable Requirements

• Previous experience working within an NHS Obstetrics & Gynaecology department
• Experience across a broad range of Obstetric and Gynaecological services
• Experience working within a delivery suite and emergency Obstetric setting
• Teaching and supervision experience
• Experience in clinical audit, governance or service improvement
