Internal Recruitment Consultant – Construction and Infrastructure

A leading specialist construction and engineering contractor is seeking an experienced Internal Recruitment Consultant to manage recruitment across its growing UK project portfolio.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of blue- and white-collar recruitment within an established, employee-owned business delivering complex construction and infrastructure projects.

You will recruit across a broad range of appointments, from skilled trades, plant operators and supervisors through to engineers, quantity surveyors, construction managers and specialist technical professionals.

There is no external business development or requirement to win recruitment clients.

The Role

Working directly with hiring managers, project teams and senior business leaders, you will manage vacancies from initial briefing through to offer and onboarding.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing end-to-end recruitment across blue- and white-collar positions
• Taking detailed vacancy briefings from hiring managers
• Developing recruitment plans for projects and business functions
• Directly sourcing and headhunting suitable candidates
• Building talent pools for forthcoming projects and mobilisations
• Managing job-board, LinkedIn, referral and direct-sourcing campaigns
• Screening and interviewing candidates
• Coordinating interviews, feedback and offers
• Supporting onboarding and pre-employment compliance
• Advising hiring managers on candidate availability and market conditions
• Monitoring recruitment activity and vacancy progress
• Managing multiple urgent and business-critical appointments
• Improving direct-hiring performance and reducing agency expenditure
• Delivering a professional candidate and hiring-manager experience

About You

You will have established recruitment experience gained within an agency, internal recruitment team or recruitment delivery function.

A background recruiting within one or more of the following areas is preferred:

• Construction and the built environment
• Civil engineering and infrastructure
• Rail or transportation
• Engineering
• Trades and labour
• Plant and logistics
• Technical and commercial construction appointments

Candidates with experience across both blue- and white-collar recruitment will be particularly suitable.

You should be confident working directly with operational managers and senior stakeholders, managing vacancies independently and sourcing candidates who may not be actively seeking a new position.

Experience recruiting engineers, quantity surveyors, project managers, construction managers or other specialist professionals would support appointment toward the higher end of the salary range.
