SEN Teaching Assistant (SEMH/ASD) - Flexible Day-to-Day Roles

We are seeking dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to join our supportive school environment. What we offer
  • Daily Rate: £92.56 - £95.00 per day
  • Hours: 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM (Monday to Friday, Term-Time)
  • Contract Type: Day-to-Day / Flexible
  • Location: Okehampton
Responsibilities
  • Deliver targeted 1:1 and small group support to re-engage students with their learning.
  • De-escalate challenging behaviour using restorative, trauma-informed practices.
  • Help students build confidence, emotional regulation, and social skills.
  • Adapt learning materials to suit individual EHCP targets and sensory needs.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and encouraging classroom environment.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, ADHD, ASD, or complex needs.
  • Strong behaviour management skills combined with a calm, patient, and non-judgemental approach.
  • High emotional intelligence and the ability to build rapport quickly with vulnerable learners.
  • Adaptability to step into different classroom settings on a day-to-day basis.
  • A genuine passion for making a positive impact on young people's lives.
About Our School

At the heart of our school, we are committed to supporting the young people in our care to build their self-esteem and confidence, develop meaningful and positive friendships, and engage in a curriculum that will allow them to find success in their adult lives. All of our students have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) as a core identified need. The majority of our learners also present with additional needs, including ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and communication and interaction difficulties.
