Senior AI Prompt Engineer

Job Title: Senior AI Prompt Engineer (Contract) Location: Sheffield, UK (Hybrid: 2-3 days on-site) Duration: 6 Months (with potential extension) Experience: 5-7 Years

Role Overview We are seeking a Senior AI Prompt Engineer to drive enterprise-grade AI solutions across software development and business workflows. This is a highly technical role that bridges advanced prompt strategy with hands-on software engineering, focusing on AI-assisted developer productivity and automated system integration.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, optimize, and manage advanced prompts for GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot (M365 & Studio), and Claude/Claude Code.

• Develop and maintain complex PowerShell scripts to support AI-driven workflows and enterprise system integrations.

• Build, support, and scale AI-enhanced automation pipelines and internal developer tooling.

• Securely integrate LLM capabilities into existing platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and enterprise systems.

• Establish prompt engineering standards, governance patterns, and evaluation metrics for AI output quality and cost.

Essential Requirements

• Proven track record in advanced AI prompt engineering combined with traditional software/automation engineering.

• Hands-on expertise utilizing GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot, and Claude Code for code generation, review, and refactoring.

• Deep proficiency in PowerShell scripting, enterprise automation, and system administration.

• Strong database background, specifically with SQL Server.

• Programming proficiency in at least one of the following: Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, C#, or advanced PowerShell.

Desirable Skills

• Hands-on experience with Azure AI, OpenAI APIs, or Anthropic APIs.

• Solid understanding of CI/CD, DevOps, and enterprise automation platforms.

• Familiarity with RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) architectures, vector databases, and knowledge systems.

• Previous experience deploying AI solutions within large-scale or regulated enterprise environments.
