Your new role

As Pastry Chef, you’ll take responsibility for the pastry section and work closely with the wider hotel kitchen team in Brentwood, Essex. You’ll produce desserts and baked items for between 20 and 70 afternoon teas each day, alongside restaurant service and weddings for up to 100 guests.

You will:

• Prepare and present desserts, cakes, pastries and afternoon-tea items
• Help develop seasonal desserts and new pastry ideas
• Plan daily preparation around bookings and event requirements
• Maintain consistency across individual and high-volume production
• Cater confidently for allergies and dietary requirements
• Manage pastry stock, ordering, rotation and waste
• Maintain excellent food safety, hygiene and cleanliness
• Support the wider kitchen during busy services and events

What we’re looking for

The successful Pastry Chef will have previous pastry experience and be comfortable organising their own section while remaining part of a close-knit brigade.

You’ll also need:

• Strong pastry, baking and dessert-preparation skills
• Creativity and a keen eye for presentation
• Experience working with fresh ingredients
• The ability to manage several services and deadlines
• Confidence working independently when required
• Good allergen and food-safety knowledge
• A reliable, organised and team-focused approach
