We are looking for a Learning Support Mentor to join a welcoming school in the Surrey area. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who enjoys building positive relationships with young people and helping them overcome barriers to learning.
About the Role
As a Learning Support Mentor, you will provide support to pupils who may need additional help with their learning, behaviour, emotional regulation and engagement.
You will work closely with teachers and the wider pastoral and SEN team to provide consistent, supportive and nurturing guidance.
Your responsibilities will include:
Supporting pupils with SEND and SEMH needs on a 1:1 and small-group basis.
Supporting pupils who may display challenging behaviour.
Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
Helping pupils develop confidence, resilience and emotional regulation.
Supporting pupils to manage anxiety, frustration and difficult emotions.
Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement in learning.
Helping pupils overcome barriers to education and remain focused in lessons.
Following individual behaviour and support strategies.
Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral staff.
Providing consistent boundaries while acting as a positive role model.
Monitoring and communicating pupil progress and behaviour.
About You
We are looking for someone who is patient, resilient, approachable and confident when working with young people.
Previous experience working with SEND, SEMH, behaviour or vulnerable children and young people would be highly beneficial.

You don’t necessarily need to have worked in a school before. Relevant experience supporting children or young people in other settings will also be considered.
The ideal candidate will:
Be calm and confident when dealing with challenging situations.
Have a genuine passion for supporting young people.
Be able to build strong, positive relationships.
Understand the importance of consistency and clear boundaries.
Have an interest in SEND and SEMH.
Be reliable, proactive and adaptable.
Be comfortable working as part of a school team.
Have a positive and nurturing approach.
What You’ll Get
£100 – £120 per day, depending on experience.
Full-time hours, Monday to Friday.
8:30am – 3:30pm working hours.

Pay & Holiday Pay
The pay stated is inclusive of the additional 12.07% PAYE holiday pay.
