About the role
Are you passionate about making a difference to a child’s education and wellbeing?
We are seeking to appoint a caring, enthusiastic and committed Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a child with additional medical needs.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is patient, nurturing and able to build a strong, trusting relationship with a child, while helping them to access learning and participate fully in school life.
The successful candidate will:
Provide consistent and supportive 1:1 care and educational support throughout the school day.
Support the child to access the curriculum and participate in lessons and wider school activities.
Develop a positive, trusting relationship with the child, promoting their confidence, independence and self-esteem.
Follow the child’s individual healthcare plan and school procedures, working closely with parents/carers and relevant professionals.
Be attentive to the child’s medical needs and respond appropriately to any changes in their wellbeing.
Support the child’s social and emotional development and inclusion within the wider class and school community.
Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and other members of staff to ensure the child receives consistent and appropriate support.
Maintain high standards of confidentiality, safeguarding and professional conduct.
Contribute positively to our caring and inclusive school community.

Can remain calm and respond appropriately in situations that may require additional care and support.
Is reliable, adaptable and able to work effectively as part of a team.
Has high expectations for every child and is committed to inclusive education.
Is willing to undertake relevant training relating to the child’s medical needs.
Ideally has experience of working with children with additional needs, medical needs or SEND, although relevant experience and the right attitude are equally valued.
