Humly are recruiting a compassionate and dedicated SEN Learning Support Assistant to provide 1:1 support to a Year 1 pupil at a primary school in Carlisle from 9 September 2026. This full-time role runs until 18 December 2026, covering the full Autumn term, with potential to extend further depending on the needs of the school.
This 1:1 SEN Learning Support Assistant role would suit an experienced Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or education professional who is confident supporting young pupils with speech and language development. No behavioural concerns have been shared for the pupil, although the role does include intimate care responsibilities, so we're looking for someone who is patient, nurturing, professional and comfortable providing consistent individual support.

Working closely with the class teacher and wider school team
What You'll Be Doing
Providing dedicated 1:1 support to a Year 1 pupil
Supporting speech and language development throughout the school day
Helping the pupil access classroom activities and learning
Encouraging communication, confidence and independence
Supporting the pupil with classroom routines and transitions
Providing intimate care when required, in line with school procedures
Building a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil
Working closely with the class teacher and school staff
Following individual support strategies and guidance provided by the school
Helping create a calm, safe and inclusive learning environment
You'll Be a Good Fit If You...
Have experience as a Teaching Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or in a similar education role
Have experience supporting children with speech, language or communication needs
Are confident providing dedicated 1:1 support
Are comfortable carrying out intimate care responsibilities
Have a patient, compassionate and nurturing approach
Can build strong and positive relationships with young pupils
Understand the importance of consistency when supporting individual needs
Are reliable and available for full-time work from 9 September 2026
Are professional and able to work effectively as part of a school team
