Mechanical Principal Engineer / Discipline Head

Manchester, Greater Manchester Proftech Talent Senior Civil Engineer Our client is seeking a Civil Design Engineer to join a growing multidisciplinary team delivering water-sector projects. This role is ideal for an engineer looking to develop technically, take ownership of design tasks and progress towards chartership. Requirements * Up to 5 years’ civil design experience * Minimum 1 year’s UK water industry experience * Degree, HND or significant practical experience * Hydraulic calculations and hydraulic profile experience * Strong IT and digital design capability * Professional engineering institution membership and working towards chartership * Experience owning discrete design tasks * Experience producing calculations, specifications, drawings and schedules * Experience coordinating with other disciplines * Clean water and wastewater experience desirable * Infrastructure and non-infrastructure experience desirable * Outline and detailed design experience desirable * Awareness of construction methods and materials * Knowledge of engineering drawing practices * Full UK driving licence desirable Key Skills * Strong civil engineering design capability * Good problem-solving and communication skills * Collaborative approach within multidisciplinary teams * Proactive approach and commitment to professional development Responsibilities * Produce safe, compliant and high-quality design deliverables * Prepare civil calculations, drawings and technical documentation * Develop practical and efficient design solutions * Direct and support CAD technicians * Prepare design risk assessments, reports and specifications * Ensure designs comply with relevant standards and water company requirements * Implement and record project design changes * Support project planning and attend design meetings Details Salary up to £65,000 depending on experience Contract rates up to £500 per day outside IR35 Manchester with flexible remote/hybrid working Permanent or contract opportunities Monday to Friday
