We are a specialist unit within one of our primary academies academy based in Mansfield. The setting is for pupils aged 3-11 who have autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and Social, Emotional and Mental health needs (SEMH).

The opportunity

We are looking for a skilled, outstanding, creative, and committed primary SEN teacher to deliver a fun and exciting curriculum.

The successful candidate should have good interpersonal skills as they will be working as a part of a much wider team and will be communicating with parents who themselves may need support This is a real opportunity to make a positive difference in the children's and their family's lives.

Qualified teacher status is essential, and experience of teaching SEND in a special school environment would be desirable. However, we would welcome applications from early career teachers or those in the early stages of their careers who would like to develop their skills in a special school environment. All applicants would be required to support the development of new initiatives across the academy and Trust.

The successful candidate will:

Ensure that the quality of teaching and learning in lessons is of the highest possible quality.

Ensure high quality classroom management and maintain good classroom discipline.

Closely monitor children’s progress against pre-determined targets according to whole academy and trust policies.

Maintain high expectations of children and ensure that teaching approaches and materials are commensurate with the child’s capability so that the optimum standard of achievement is reached.
