Teaching Assistant – Year 2 / Behaviour Support

We are currently recruiting for a proactive and resilient Teaching Assistant to join a mainstream primary school in the DN11 area.

The role will primarily involve supporting pupils within Year 2, with an additional focus on helping children who may require support with behaviour, emotional regulation and engagement.

You will work closely with the class teacher to provide consistent support and help pupils develop the skills they need to succeed in the classroom.

Key duties include:

• Supporting Year 2 pupils with their learning
• Providing 1:1 and small-group support
• Helping children manage emotions and regulate behaviour
• Encouraging positive relationships and social development
• Supporting literacy and numeracy activities
• Reinforcing classroom routines and expectations
• Working closely with teachers and pastoral staff

The ideal candidate will be calm, patient and confident when supporting children who may display challenging behaviour.

Experience working with behaviour or SEND would be advantageous, but a positive attitude and willingness to learn are equally important.
