The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Consultant in Medicine of the Elderly (Elderly Care) to support services in Scotland.

This locum opportunity offers a locum placement from 14 September 2026 to 30 October 2026, providing the chance to work within a well-established Medicine of the Elderly department. The role is ideal for an experienced Consultant with a strong background in Elderly Care, looking to contribute to high-quality patient care within a supportive NHS environment.

You will work alongside established multidisciplinary teams, supporting the delivery of specialist care for older adults while contributing to safe, effective, and patient-centred services.

What You'll Be Doing

• Provide specialist Consultant-led care within a Medicine of the Elderly service.
• Assess, diagnose, and manage patients with complex medical needs.
• Support day-to-day clinical service delivery within the Medical Directorate.
• Work collaboratively with nursing staff, allied health professionals, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Contribute to ward rounds, clinical decision-making, and patient management plans.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in line with NHS standards.
• Support safe discharge planning and continuity of care for elderly patients.
• Ensure high standards of patient safety, quality, and clinical governance are maintained.

What We're Looking For

• Active GMC registration with a licence to practise.
• Consultant-level experience within Elderly Care / Geriatric Medicine.
• Recent UK NHS experience.
• Strong clinical judgement, communication, and leadership skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of an established multidisciplinary team.
• Valid Right to Work in the UK (please note we do not offer visa sponsorship).

Compliance Requirements

Candidates must provide:

• Two recent UK professional references.
• Fit-to-work / Occupational Health clearance.
• Valid passport and Right to Work documentation.
• Valid PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) Scheme Membership held by the submitting agency (a legal requirement for locum work in Scotland).
