The Opportunity

We are supporting an NHS Trust in South West England with the appointment of a Locum Consultant in Obstetrics & Gynaecology.

This is an excellent opportunity for a suitably experienced Consultant to join an established Obstetrics & Gynaecology service and contribute to the delivery of high-quality care across the department.

The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, providing Consultant-level clinical care across Obstetrics & Gynaecology throughout the assignment.

The Role

The successful candidate will provide Consultant-level Obstetrics & Gynaecology services as part of the Trust's established clinical team.

The role will include:

  • Providing Consultant-level clinical care across Obstetrics & Gynaecology
  • Assessing and managing obstetric and gynaecological patients
  • Supporting the delivery of routine and acute clinical services
  • Providing senior clinical decision-making and specialist advice
  • Working collaboratively with Consultants, junior doctors, midwives, nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team
  • Contributing to outpatient, inpatient and theatre services as required
  • Supporting the management of acute and emergency presentations
  • Providing clinical supervision and support to junior medical staff
  • Maintaining accurate and comprehensive clinical documentation
  • Supporting safe and effective patient-centred care
  • Participating in clinical governance, audit and service improvement activities

What We're Looking For

Essential Requirements

  • Full GMC registration with licence to practise
  • Appropriate Obstetrics & Gynaecology experience at Consultant level
  • Previous NHS Obstetrics & Gynaecology experience
  • Experience managing acute and emergency Obstetrics & Gynaecology presentations
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong clinical decision-making and communication skills
  • Commitment to delivering safe, high-quality patient-centred care

Desirable Requirements

  • Previous experience working within a UK NHS Obstetrics & Gynaecology department
  • Broad experience across Obstetrics & Gynaecology
  • Experience in teaching and supervision
  • Experience in clinical audit, governance or service improvement
