The vacant post is part-time working 17 hours per week.

Job description

The post holder will work as part of a multidisciplinary (MDT) primary healthcare team delivering primary and Occupational Healthcare in line with General Medical Council (GMC) Standards to ensure that the organisational and Senior Medical Officer (SMO) objectives are achieved to optimise patient care.

The Post Holder’s Line Management will reflect the organisational structures of medical Service and establishment. Whilst the Post Holder may not have direct Line Manager Responsibilities, they will participate in the mentoring of junior personnel, helping to ensure that their training needs, as defined in the Practise Development Plan, are met and that any shortfalls are identified and addressed.

Cyber and Specialist Operations Command (CSOC) is going through a significant transformation programme which aims to design the way in which the new Military Command conducts its business and delivers for Defence and the nation. As a consequence of this, posts within CSOC are/or may become subject to review and potential changes as we continuously improve across the period of the transformation programme. These changes may be minor or could be more substantive and will generate new opportunities. Throughout, the Command’s transformation programme is committed to following the MOD’s framework on managing and supporting people through the change process and places an emphasis on early and open consultation and engagement with the Command’s personnel and Trade Unions.

Person specification

The duties and responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

• Provide general healthcare to all registered patients during normal practice hours.
  
  
• Maximise the levels of health, wellbeing and employability of Service personnel to ensure the needs of the single Services are met.
  
  
• Undertake mandatory medical examinations and provide appropriate occupational healthcare and advice, and all supporting administrative duties.
  
  
• Provide appropriate preventative medical advice to both individuals and Chain of Command.
  
  
• Provide primary care emergency treatment to any patient who may require this within the Establishment.
  
  
• Appropriately supervise the management of communicable diseases, including monitoring and reporting through single Service chains.

Licences

Registration with the UK GMC, and on the GP Registrar
Must be in date for Basic Life Support (BLS), Anaphylaxis, Automated External Defibrillation (AED). Infection Prevention and Control (IPC),
Safeguarding Level 3 (Children and Adult - depending on population at risk)
Holding a current Licence to practice
