We’re looking for a Physical Security Coordinator to help us make a difference.
The job may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in the office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and the location advertised will be your contractual place of work.

Your world of expertise
As Physical Security Coordinator you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Security Manager in the effective management, maintenance, and protection of all the Met Office buildings, premises, and assets. You will assist in ensuring the operational integrity of all physical security systems, coordinating with suppliers and third-party contractors. You will support with the operational management of the Guardforce, and you will also ensure the accuracy and accessibility of all security records. This role demands a meticulous approach to confidential document handling and process innovation, fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the security administrative function.
Job description
- Support the management and protection of all Met Office buildings, premises, and assets, while ensuring adherence to internal policies and external regulations.
- Aid in the operational management of the Guardforce, monitoring performance against key performance indicators (KPIs), ensuring training records are up to date, and facilitating communication between teams.
- Support the management of supplier and third-party contracts and contractor relationships, ensuring all security systems are operational, properly maintained, and service level agreements are met.
- Work closely with key internal stakeholders across the organisation to understand operational requirements, share updates, support effective decision-making, and help ensure physical security arrangements meet business needs.
Person specification
- Lead Criteria: Previous Physical Security experience, ideally within a security or similar field. (Expert by nature)
- Understanding of physical security systems, including access control, intruder detection and CCTV systems and how their use can reduce physical security risks. (Expert by nature)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, suitable for liaising with colleagues, contractors, and external stakeholders. (Better together)
- Ability to develop and implement process improvements, demonstrating initiative and problem-solving skills. (Keep Evolving)
- Demonstrable understanding of confidentiality protocols and data protection requirements.

As our Physical Security Coordinator, your total reward package will be up to £40,524 annually, which includes:
- £28,600 base pay
- An outstanding Civil Service pension, with an average employer contribution of 28.97%
- Annual Leave starting at 27.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) rising to 32.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) after 5 years and option to buy or sell up to 5 days per year of annual leave
