Cleaner - DBS Basic

Job Title: Cleaner (Basic BDS)

Department: Housekeeping / Facilities

Reports To: Supervisor / Facility Manager

Job Summary

The Cleaner is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, hygiene, and a safe environment in assigned work areas. The role involves routine cleaning tasks, proper waste disposal, and ensuring all cleaning standards are met.

Key Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors.

• Dust and wipe furniture, fixtures, and surfaces.

• Clean and sanitize restrooms, washrooms, and common areas.

• Empty trash bins and dispose of waste appropriately.

• Refill consumables such as soap, tissue, and paper towels.

• Clean windows, doors, and glass surfaces as assigned.

• Report maintenance issues or damaged equipment to the supervisor.

• Use cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and according to instructions.

• Follow health, safety, and hygiene procedures at all times.

• Perform any other cleaning duties assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

• Basic literacy and numeracy skills.

• Previous cleaning experience is preferred but not essential.

• Physically fit and able to perform manual cleaning tasks.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Honest, reliable, and punctual.

• Willingness to work flexible hours if required.

Skills

• Knowledge of basic cleaning methods and equipment.

• Good attention to detail.

• Time management skills.

• Ability to follow instructions.

• Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Working Conditions

• Indoor and outdoor cleaning duties as required.

• May require standing, bending, lifting, and walking for extended periods.

• Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and cleaning chemicals.
