About the role

Job Title: Learning Support Officer

Location: Bromley

Working Pattern: Term Time Only

Salary: £27,875 - £28,701

The Opportunity

We are partnering with a thriving Further Education college to recruit a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Officer. This is an exceptional opportunity to make a direct, positive impact on young people and adults with special educational needs (SEN). In this role, you will help remove barriers to education, promote independence, and support learners as they work towards achieving their personal and academic goals.

About the Setting

Based at a modern campus in Bromley, this college provides an inclusive, vibrant, and well-resourced learning environment for post-16 students. The institution is dedicated to offering tailored inclusion services, ensuring every student-regardless of their additional needs-has equal access to learning, facilities, and personal growth opportunities.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and group learning support to SEN students across various study programmes under the direction of curriculum staff.
  • Assist learners with their personal care, physical mobility, and safety in a respectful and dignified manner.
  • Support students in achieving the specific goals and outcomes detailed in their Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Ensure specialist assistive technologies and adaptive equipment are accessible and fully operational for students.
  • Help learners develop study skills, self-advocacy, and independence within the college community.
  • Monitor student progress, contribute to person-centred support plan reviews, and liaise with key staff and external agencies when required.

What We Are Looking For

  • Qualifications: A good standard of general education, including Level 2 Maths and English (or a willingness to achieve this qualification).
  • Characteristics: Patient, personable, and adaptable with a genuine passion for SEN support. You must be comfortable and willing to assist students with personal care and mobility. (Communication skills in Makaton, BSL, or Sign-a-Long are desirable).
  • Transport / Commute: Able to commute reliably to the Bromley campus on a term-time schedule.

Safeguarding & Compliance

We are strictly committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults. All offered candidates will be required to undergo an Enhanced DBS check, provide proof of the right to work in the UK, and supply a full, gap-free employment history with verified references.
