The Opportunity

We are partnering with a progressive Further Education college in Bromley to recruit a Specialist Learning Support Assistant. In this tailored 1:1 role, you will combine your subject knowledge in media with person-centred support to directly enable a learner taking Level 3 Media to access their coursework, overcome study barriers, and achieve their qualification.

About the Setting

The college is a vibrant, inclusive campus dedicated to helping young people and adults build practical skills and independence. The learning inclusion department works closely with curriculum staff to ensure learners with additional needs have access to modern facilities, specialist assistive technologies, and a supportive environment.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 technical, educational, and accessibility support to a student enrolled in a Level 3 Media programme.
  • Break down complex course concepts, guide practical tasks, and support the learner with media tools and software.
  • Foster the student's self-advocacy, study skills, and confidence within classroom and college activities.
  • Assist with personal care, mobility, safety, and well-being in line with college health and safety guidelines as needed.
  • Track progression, contribute to person-centred support plans, and liaise with support managers and teachers.

What We Are Looking For

  • Qualifications: Essential background, degree, or qualification in Media, Journalism, or a closely related discipline. Minimum Level 2 in English and Maths (or equivalent).
  • Characteristics: Empathetic, highly organised, proactive, and passionate about supporting SEN learners.
  • Transport/Commute: Ability to commute to the college campus in Bromley reliably during term times.
