Put Your Fabrication Skills to Work on the F-35
Morson Edge is looking for an experienced Component Fabricator to join a specialist aircraft engineering team at RAF Marham, supporting the UK’s F-35 Lightning programme.
This is a 15-month contract offering the opportunity to manufacture, modify and repair components for one of the world’s most advanced combat aircraft.
You’ll work within specialist workshops and aircraft maintenance hangars, using your existing fabrication and machining experience to produce aircraft parts and assemblies to exacting engineering standards.
The Role
As an F-35 Component Fabricator, you’ll undertake a varied range of manufacturing, machining and fabrication activities across aircraft components.
Working from approved technical information, engineering drawings, patterns and specifications, you’ll manufacture and modify parts throughout the build and repair process.
You’ll work with materials including steel, aluminium and titanium, using specialist machinery, manual tooling and precision measuring equipment to ensure components meet the required tolerances and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Manufacture and modify aircraft parts and components
- Interpret engineering drawings, patterns, templates and specifications
- Carry out machine drilling and reaming
- Undertake milling and grinding activities
- Cut, shape and prepare metallic materials
- Work with steel, aluminium, titanium and other engineering materials
- Assemble fabricated products using mechanical fasteners and approved fixing techniques
- Calculate dimensions and tolerances
- Use calipers, micrometers and other precision measuring equipment
- Carry out quality checks on individual components and completed assemblies
- Identify and report non-conformances
- Work in accordance with approved technical information and maintenance instructions
- Maintain tool control, calibration and FOD standards
- Follow SHE, COSHH and workplace safety procedures
Skills & Experience
We’re particularly interested in experienced:
- Aircraft Fabricators
- Component Fabricators
- Aircraft Structures Technicians
- Sheet Metal Workers
- Skilled Machinists / Fitters with relevant fabrication experience
You’ll need practical experience across relevant fabrication and machining techniques, including drilling, reaming, milling, grinding, cutting and shaping.
You should also be comfortable working accurately from engineering drawings and using precision measuring equipment.
Qualifications
You’ll need a time-served Engineering Advanced Apprenticeship, formally certificated by a recognised awarding organisation, with an appropriate Level 2 NVQ or equivalent.
Equivalent formally evidenced military engineering training may also be considered.
