About the role
Location: Southampton
Salary: £23,000 – £26,000 per annum (depending on experience and qualifications)
Hours: 40 hours per week
Contract: Full-time, permanent
Term: Term time only
Shifts: Monday to Friday, in line with the needs of the school
Shift Times: In line with the school day and service requirements

About the Role:
We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive school located in Southampton.
This role is suitable for candidates commuting from Southampton, Eastleigh, Hedge End, Totton, Romsey, Winchester, Fareham and surrounding areas.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting pupils’ learning, development and wellbeing, working closely with teachers and support staff to ensure every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential academically, socially and emotionally.
You will support individuals and small groups to access learning effectively, encourage engagement, confidence and independence, and help maintain a safe, structured and positive classroom environment.
You will also contribute to behaviour management, classroom organisation and safeguarding, while acting as a positive role model and supporting the school’s ethos, values and overall aims.
The role will involve working collaboratively with teachers and colleagues, participating in meetings and training, and contributing to ongoing school improvement and development initiatives.
Requirements:
- A positive, caring and compassionate approach to supporting children and young people
- Passion for supporting children’s learning, development and wellbeing
- Previous experience working with children in an educational, residential, care or similar setting
- Ability to build positive and professional relationships with pupils
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Reliable, professional and well-organised approach to work
- Understanding of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
- Ability to support pupils with learning, behaviour and emotional needs
- Commitment to creating a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment
- Ability to encourage confidence, engagement and independence in pupils
- A motivated, flexible and proactive approach to work
- Eligibility to live and work in the UK without s p o n s o r s h i p
