Types of Cover Supervisor Work Available
We can offer a range of assignments to suit different levels of availability and experience:
Ad-hoc / Day-to-Day Cover
Perfect for candidates who want flexibility or are looking to build experience across different secondary schools. You can gain valuable classroom experience while getting to know a variety of school environments across Sheffield and Rotherham.
Part-Time Long-Term Roles
For candidates looking for more consistency, we have part-time long-term positions available, providing regular hours within the same school.
Full-Time Long-Term Roles
We also have full-time opportunities for Cover Supervisors looking for regular Monday-Friday work and the chance to become a familiar face within a school.

The Cover Supervisor Role
As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise classes when their usual teacher is unavailable, ensuring students remain focused and complete the work provided.
Your responsibilities will include:

• Supervising classes across KS3 and KS4
• Delivering pre-prepared lesson materials
• Maintaining a positive and productive classroom environment
• Managing student behaviour in line with school policies
• Supporting students with their learning where appropriate
• Taking accurate registers
• Providing feedback to teaching staff where required
• Working across a variety of secondary schools in Sheffield and Rotherham

You do not need to be a qualified teacher for this role. Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable, but we are also keen to hear from graduates and candidates looking to gain their first experience within secondary education.

Previous experience as a Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, tutor, youth worker or within another education setting would be beneficial.

Cover Supervisor Pay & Benefits
We offer an increasing pay ladder, with rates starting from £100 per day and rising up to £150 per day, depending on experience, responsibilities and progression.
