Job Summary

St Mary's University is seeking a sport analytics specialist to convene, teach and assess Sports Business Analytics, a master's-level module running in Semester 1 of 2026/27.

The subject is how sport organisations actually use data: ticketing and CRM segmentation, attendance modelling and demand forecasting, dynamic pricing, sponsorship valuation and ROI, media rights and audience projection, and participation, community and impact measurement. Students build dashboards, work with multi-source datasets, and complete a consultancy-style portfolio including a board paper and a sponsor pitch deck.

You would convene the module, develop the handbook, virtual learning platform and teaching materials.

This is an hourly paid academic role, your working hours will be based on the timetable for the semester.

Candidate Summary

We are looking for someone who combines professional expertise in sport analytics with experience of teaching in higher education.

The ideal candidate should have extensive experience of applying relevant analytical skills, teaching techniques and methods, and either a degree or equivalent in a relevant subject or professional experience in sport analytics.

The candidate must have excellent presentation skills and the ability to explain complex concepts and theories clearly to students with a range of backgrounds, together with the ability to prepare and present information in a clear and concise way. Good organisational skills including the ability to meet deadlines, and IT skills, are essential. You will be self-motivated, approachable, patient and reliable, and a team player.

Familiarity with AI-enabled analytics and visualisation tools and their responsible use, and familiarity with Moodle or a comparable virtual learning environment are all desirable.

Candidates should be availble to start from the start of Semester 1 on 21st September 2026.
