Job Title: Bank Worker

Location: Luton. Unfortunately step free access cannot be guaranteed. 

Salary: £13.45 per hour 

Shift Pattern: Flexible working depending on hours available. Perfect if you are looking for a role where shifts can fit your personal availability! 

About the Role

Join our Penrose Roots bank workforce as a Bank Project Worker and help us provide flexible, person-centred support across our Roots projects. You will work alongside our dedicated teams to support participants with mental health, wellbeing, substance use and complex support needs, helping them build confidence, strengthen independence and connect with opportunities in their local community.

This is a flexible bank role, so shifts will be offered in line with participant needs and Roots service requirements rather than through a guaranteed rota. A driving licence and access to a vehicle is highly desirable, as you may be supporting people across community settings, residential homes and SIG accommodation services across Bedfordshire and Luton.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Encourage participants to engage in meaningful activities, events, and community opportunities aligned with their interests, recovery journey, and wellbeing goals.
• Light domestic care and support which can include laundry and cleaning, as well as other essential activities to support daily living 
• Support participants with gaining access to essential financial support including benefits claims
• Support participants to achieve desired outcomes/goals through support plans, risk assessments, and regular reviews
• Be adaptable and dynamic, recognising that no two days are the same. Activities may include facilitating an art group, leading a walk or nature trail, supporting daily living skills, or providing practical assistance
• Work collaboratively with Roots colleagues, community partners, and wider SIG services to deliver coordinated and consistent support.

About You

We’re looking for people who share the Penrose Roots commitment to empowering change, challenging stigma and supporting people to move towards safer, healthier and more independent lives. You will be flexible, reliable and able to respond to the changing needs of our Roots projects. You’ll be comfortable working independently and as part of a team, building positive relationships with participants from a wide range of backgrounds and treating everyone with dignity, respect and compassion.

What we look for:

• IT Proficiency, ability to learn new software programs, basic Microsoft experience is required
• Ability to travel across Brighton and Hove, including in areas which don't have public transport 
• We welcome applications who have lived experience and are passionate about supporting others to achieve their goals 
• Experience of working with people of complex backgrounds, including in the criminal justice field, mental health, and/or substance misuse or a good understanding of the sector
• Understanding of the housing and social needs of people with multiple and complex needs
• Able to influence and negotiate positive outcomes with others
• Alignment with our values of Ambition, Empowerment, Inclusivity, and Transparency
