Job description

The UK AI sector is developing rapidly and has the potential to transform productivity, public services, economic growth and national security. Our team helps government understand what's happening across the AI ecosystem, identify the companies and technologies that matter most, and turn those insights into action.

As part of our team, you'll help build and maintain government's understanding of the AI landscape, working with information from across industry and government to identify emerging trends, opportunities and risks. You'll support the delivery of intelligence products, stakeholder engagement and reactive work, helping ensure that decision-makers have the information they need at the right time. Our work is varied. One day you could be researching an emerging AI company, the next coordinating a response to a Ministerial request or identifying patterns and opportunities from industry engagement. We're a friendly, supportive team that values curiosity, initiative and learning, and we encourage colleagues to take ownership, test new ideas and develop expertise in areas that interest them.

Key Responsibilities

- Monitor the AI landscape, identifying emerging companies, trends, opportunities and risks, and explaining what they could mean for government priorities.

- Produce high-quality analysis and intelligence products, turning information from a range of sources into clear insights, briefings and recommendations.

- Coordinate and manage incoming requests, helping ensure the team responds effectively to fast-moving priorities while maintaining focus on longer-term objectives.

- Build relationships with colleagues across government and the wider AI ecosystem to gather insight, share information and support collaborative working.

- Maintain team intelligence and knowledge products, ensuring information is accurate, accessible and supports effective decision-making.

- Contribute to strategic projects and team improvement, with opportunities to develop specialist expertise, lead pieces of work and shape responsibilities based on your strengths, interests and development goals.

Essential criteria

- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with experience of managing information accurately, maintaining high-quality outputs and ensuring work is delivered to a consistently high standard.

- Experience managing competing priorities in a fast-paced and changing environment, demonstrating sound judgement, resilience and the ability to deliver high-quality work to tight deadlines.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify patterns, opportunities and risks, synthesise information from multiple sources, and develop clear, practical recommendations.

- Demonstrable initiative, curiosity and enthusiasm, with a proactive approach to improving processes, identifying opportunities, taking ownership of work and continually developing knowledge in new areas.

- Strong communication and collaborative working skills, with the ability to build positive relationships, share information clearly and work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.
