About the role

Graduate Mechanical Engineer – Mechatronics

What do we want to achieve?

Do you have an engineering degree and a passion for mechanical engineering, mechatronics and innovative technology?**

As a Graduate Mechanical Engineer – Mechatronics**, you will join TKMS ATLAS UK’s Mechatronics team, developing your technical knowledge and applying engineering theory to real-world projects. You will be offered a **permanent role from day one** and join our structured **2-year Graduate Scheme**, designed to develop your technical capability, professional confidence and practical engineering experience.

The Mechatronics team works across a wide range of innovative marine technologies, developing and delivering systems that support surface vessels, submarines and autonomous platforms. As a Graduate Mechanical Engineer, you will contribute to research, development, design, testing and integration activities, helping TKMS ATLAS UK develop the next generation of maritime technology.

You will report to the Mechanical Engineer Section Lead and will work closely with experienced engineers, project teams and other departments across the 

What will you be doing?

The role will provide exposure to a broad range of engineering activities, allowing you to develop both your technical knowledge and practical experience.

Key responsibilities may include:

* Supporting the research and development of highly integrated **mechatronics technologies**.
* Contributing to the design, development, testing and qualification of engineering equipment.
* Working with project teams, including the **System Design Authority, Engineering Manager and Team Engineers**.
* Supporting the delivery of engineering products and solutions throughout the product lifecycle.
* Attending and supporting equipment testing and qualification activities.
* Working with teams across the business to solve engineering problems and develop innovative solutions.
* Attending meetings with customers and suppliers where appropriate.
* Developing knowledge across areas including autonomous surface vessels, towed array handling systems, UUV launch and recovery systems and marine sensor technologies.
* Supporting projects involving sonar systems, electronics and control systems, advanced power generation and minesweeping technologies.
* Working with equipment designed for challenging marine environments, including vibration and environmental considerations.

You will work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment**, balancing different project requirements and working effectively across multiple departments. As your experience develops, you will be given increasing responsibility for your own projects and tasks.

What does our target candidate look like?

We are looking for graduates who are curious, motivated and excited by the opportunity to work on innovative engineering projects within the marine industry.

You will ideally have:

* A degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Engineering or a related discipline**.
* An interest in engineering, technology and/or the marine industry.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with people at different levels.
* A collaborative approach and the ability to build positive working relationships across different teams.
* The ability to work independently and use your own initiative when solving problems.
* Good organisation and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands and meet deadlines.
* Good computer literacy, including the ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
