The Programme

We are currently mobilising experienced Registered Children’s Nurses with relevant Paediatric Allergy experience for a planned weekend insourcing programme in North West England.

The programme is designed to provide additional outpatient capacity within an established secondary-care Paediatric Allergy pathway, supporting children aged 15 years and under.

You will work as part of a coordinated clinical team alongside experienced Consultant Paediatricians, supporting the safe and effective delivery of additional Paediatric Allergy outpatient clinics.

  • Availability: Flexible weekend availability considered. You are not required to commit to every weekend
  • Additional Information: Consultant-led daytime outpatient clinics delivered as part of a coordinated paediatric clinical team

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Support the delivery of consultant-led Paediatric Allergy outpatient clinics within a structured insourced service
  • Support the assessment and management of children presenting with common allergy conditions, including food allergy, urticaria and angioedema, allergic rhinitis and anaphylaxis
  • Undertake skin prick testing in accordance with local protocols and verified competency
  • Support the development and delivery of allergy action plans
  • Provide adrenaline auto-injector education and training to children and families
  • Recognise and respond appropriately to allergic reactions and anaphylaxis
  • Undertake paediatric blood sampling / phlebotomy where required and within competency
  • Undertake appropriate clinical observations and escalate concerns in accordance with local pathways
  • Support children and their families throughout the outpatient pathway
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and work in accordance with agreed Trust policies, clinical pathways and governance requirements

What We’re Looking For

  • Current NMC registration as a Registered Children’s Nurse
  • Good recent paediatric clinical experience
  • Relevant experience within Paediatric Allergy, paediatric outpatients or another appropriate specialist paediatric service
  • Experience supporting children with allergy presentations
  • Appropriate paediatric safeguarding, recognition and escalation competencies
  • Up-to-date paediatric life-support training
  • Confidence working within a consultant-led outpatient environment
  • Strong communication, multidisciplinary working and professional standards
  • Valid Right to Work in the UK. Please note that we do not offer visa sponsorship

  • Paediatric Allergy outpatient clinics
  • Skin prick testing
  • Allergy action plans and patient/family education
  • Adrenaline auto-injector education and training
  • Anaphylaxis recognition and management
  • Paediatric phlebotomy
