The Programme

We are currently mobilising experienced Registered Children’s Nurses with relevant Paediatric Cardiology experience for a planned weekend insourcing programme in North West England.

The programme is designed to provide additional outpatient capacity within an established Paediatric Cardiology pathway, supporting children referred for assessment of a range of general cardiology presentations.

You will work as part of a coordinated clinical team alongside experienced Consultant Paediatricians and the established cardiorespiratory service, supporting the safe and effective delivery of additional Paediatric Cardiology outpatient clinics.

• Schedule: Weekend clinics, Saturdays and Sundays

• Programme Duration: Initially approximately six months
• Engagement: Sessional / programme rota
• Availability: Flexible weekend availability considered. You are not required to commit to every weekend
• Additional Information: Consultant-led daytime outpatient clinics delivered alongside paediatric nursing and established cardiorespiratory support

What You’ll Be Doing

• Support the delivery of consultant-led Paediatric Cardiology outpatient clinics within a structured insourced service
• Support children attending with general cardiology presentations, including heart murmurs, chest pain, palpitations, syncope and dizziness, POTS, family history and genetic syndrome screening
• Undertake and record appropriate paediatric clinical observations
• Perform 12-lead ECG recording where required and within competency
• Undertake paediatric blood sampling / phlebotomy where required and within competency
• Support patients undergoing relevant cardiac investigations as part of the outpatient pathway
• Recognise changes in a child’s clinical condition and escalate concerns appropriately
• Provide appropriate support and information to children, young people and their families throughout the clinic
• Work closely with consultants, the cardiorespiratory service and wider clinical team to support effective patient flow
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and work in accordance with agreed Trust policies, clinical pathways and governance requirements

What We’re Looking For

• Current NMC registration as a Registered Children’s Nurse
• Good recent paediatric clinical experience
• Relevant experience within Paediatric Cardiology, paediatric outpatients, cardiac services or another appropriate specialist paediatric setting
• Experience supporting the assessment and care of children attending with cardiac presentations
• Appropriate paediatric safeguarding, recognition and escalation competencies
• Up-to-date paediatric life-support training
• Confidence working within a consultant-led outpatient environment
• Strong communication, multidisciplinary working and professional standards
• Valid Right to Work in the UK. Please note that we do not offer visa sponsorship
