The Programme

We are currently supporting workforce planning for an anticipated Echocardiography Insourcing Programme, designed to increase diagnostic cardiology capacity within an established NHS service.

You will become part of a structured, clinically governed insourcing programme, supporting planned adult echocardiography services while helping to improve patient access and reduce diagnostic waiting times.

We are seeking experienced Cardiac Physiologists who hold current British Society of Echocardiography (BSE) accreditation and are confident independently performing and reporting adult transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) examinations in accordance with current BSE standards.

This programme is focused specifically on adult transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) and is not centred around specialist echocardiography services such as TOE, stress echocardiography or structural heart imaging.

• Schedule: Primarily weekday clinical sessions, with additional weekend opportunities where service requirements dictate

What You'll Be Doing

As part of the insourcing programme, responsibilities are expected to include:

• Independently performing adult transthoracic echocardiography (TTE)
• Producing comprehensive, clinically accurate reports in accordance with current BSE reporting standards
• Completing and finalising reports on the same day as the examination where required
• Supporting outpatient, community diagnostic and inpatient echocardiography activity
• Working within local clinical governance, quality assurance and escalation procedures
• Utilising NHS clinical and reporting systems in accordance with local policies
• Maintaining accurate clinical documentation and diagnostic records
• Supporting efficient patient throughput whilst maintaining the highest standards of diagnostic quality and patient care

What We're Looking For

Applicants should have:

• Current British Society of Echocardiography (BSE) accreditation
• Recent experience independently performing and reporting adult transthoracic echocardiography
• Strong understanding of current BSE standards and minimum dataset requirements
• Recent NHS or equivalent UK clinical experience
• Ability to work confidently within established clinical pathways and governance frameworks
• Strong communication, multidisciplinary team working and professional standards
• Valid Right to Work in the UK (please note we do not offer visa sponsorship)

Particularly Desirable

We would particularly like to hear from clinicians with:

• Experience supporting NHS diagnostic recovery or clinical insourcing programmes
• Experience working within Community Diagnostic Centres or acute NHS echocardiography services
• Experience using a range of NHS echocardiography and reporting systems
• Flexibility to support weekday and weekend programme sessions
• Availability for ad hoc sessions, regular programme work or longer-term insourcing opportunities
