Advisory Teacher – Communication and Interaction (C&I)

Soulbury Educational Improvement Professionals Scale, Spinal Point 11-14 (£55,520 - £59,766) plus Outer London Allowance (£2431) 

Havering SEND and Alternative Provision Service is a multi-disciplinary team of Educational Psychologists, Advisory Teachers, Early Years specialists, Counsellors, Occupational Therapists and a range of other multi-disciplinary, specialist staff. The committed team work collaboratively to support children and young people with SEND, working with the schools and educational settings they attend.

There is an exciting opportunity to apply for the position of Advisory Teacher - C&I within the C&I Support Team. The Team is increasing its number of Advisory Teachers as it looks to enhance the type and amount of support available to schools and settings as part of the Department for Education’s ‘Experts at Hand’ offer.

The C&I Support Team includes Advisory Teachers and C&I Advisors. The function of the team is to provide advice, support, training and modelling of interventions and strategies. Our vision is to enhance school practitioners understanding, confidence and expertise to meet the needs of children and young people with C&I needs.

The Advisory Teacher - C&I will  

• support schools, colleges and settings via Team Around the School and other meetings
• work closely with a team of specialist staff, including other Advisory Teachers as well as Educational Psychologists, therapists, and other professionals, to embed the Team Around the School delivery model
• work collaboratively to deploy and professionally support C&I Advisors, who work in support of Advisory Teachers
• contribute to indirect, consultancy based multi-agency working with schools and parents to achieve goals set out in support plans
• offer a solution focused, collaborative approach
• to ensure school, colleges and settings have the practitioner skills to effectively support children and young people in their educational setting, with engagement and access to learning.
