Job summary

An exciting opportunity for a proven MODNET Power Platform developer to join the Defence Safety Authority’s Business Support and Improvement team.

The DSA is responsible for the regulation of Defence Health, Safety and Environmental Protection, operating under a Charter from the Secretary of State for Defence (SofS). The DSA provides independent assurance directly to the SofS that the law is complied with and the policy on safety in Defence is being promoted and implemented whilst Defence activities are conducted.

The post sits within the organisation’s headquarters providing enabling support to the 9 business areas of DSA comprising of 8 regulator domains and an accident investigation branch.

The position is advertised at 37 hours per week. DSA operates a hybrid working model which enables some home working. The post holder will be expected to attend office a minimum of two days per week, and we encourage applicants to discuss anticipated working arrangements for the role during the recruitment process.

Due to the nature of the role, part time and job share arrangements may be considered, subject to the requirement that business needs are met.

Job description

Working to the Business Services and Improvement Team Leader, the post holder is the senior developer in a team of 3 using the Microsoft Power suite to build and maintain a variety of applications for the organisation which support business processes, manage DSA’s data and maximise opportunities for automation and information exploitation.

Key responsibilities

• DSA’s senior developer, creating and maintaining digital tools within the Microsoft Power suite to manage business related data captured in Dataverse and SharePoint
• Build and modify applications that improve coherence in system and data architecture across DSA
• Triage and feasibility assessments of new requirements
• Stakeholder liaison and escalation
• Maximising opportunities to increase automation; tracking associated benefits
• Line manager of two junior HEO Developers
• Provide technical guidance and share good practice with a small community of developers across DSA
• Liaise with the DSA Information Manager to understand the impact of future MODNET capabilities.

Person specification

Essential requirements:

The successful applicant has experience developing sophisticated Power platform applications, flows, relational data tables and associated visualisations within the MODNET environment.

Desirable:

Broader relevant experience such as SQL or similar and Microsoft Power BI

This post may be eligible for a Digital Skills Allowance of up to £11,400 per annum. Eligibility for this allowance will be assessed at interview against the 4 core technical skills only and reviewed annually in line with departmental policy. ​
