Design Manager

We are recruiting for an experienced Design Manager to join a leading Tier 1 contractor delivering a large project on the Isle of Wight on a temporary basis.

This role will involve managing the design process, coordinating multidisciplinary design teams, engaging with clients and stakeholders, and ensuring designs are delivered in line with programme, budget, quality, and compliance requirements.

Location: Isle of Wight

Rate: Competitive day rate (Inside IR35)

Contract: 6 months (potential for extension)

Responsibilities

• Coordinate architects, consultants, subcontractors and internal delivery teams.
• Ensure design information is produced in line with project programmes.
• Identify and manage design risks and technical issues.
• Review design deliverables for quality, buildability and compliance.
• Work closely with commercial, planning and operational teams to support successful project delivery.
• Maintain effective communication with clients and key stakeholders.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Design Manager with a Tier 1 or major main contractor.
• Experience delivering complex construction projects within sectors such as defence, justice, healthcare, education or commercial.
• Strong understanding of design management processes, construction methodologies and current Building Regulations.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Relevant construction qualification (HNC/HND, degree or equivalent) is preferred.
• BPSS Clearance will be required (Can be processed once successful but must be eligible).
