Graduate Software Engineer
With a reputation for providing innovative underwater systems for the Royal Navy (RN) and export customers, TKMS Atlas UK operates from their Headquarters on the Jurassic Coast in Dorset. As a Graduate Software Engineer, you will support the development of innovative software solutions for TKMS Atlas UK’s above-water and underwater systems and products.
TKMS Atlas UK have designed their Engineering Graduate Programme to support those with a passion for Engineering to grow into the next generation of specialists to develop cutting-edge maritime technology for worldwide customers and the UK Royal Navy.
TKMS Atlas UK are dedicated to developing the next generation of talent in engineering and technology.
As a Graduate Software Engineer, you will use and develop technical knowledge to offer solutions to problems thinking innovatively and creatively within a robust engineering framework. You will be offered a permanent role from day one and step onto a 2-year Graduate Scheme to develop your skills and hands on application of theory.
What we are looking for in you:
- On course for a degree in Software Engineering (or related discipline)
- Understanding of Open Systems Architectures and Principles
- Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and be able to interact with people at all levels both within the company and externally
- Computer literacy to operate information systems. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Strong team focus
- Strong time management skills
- Ability to work independently at times under own initiative
- Ability to use own initiative when working under pressure
- Prioritise and manage personal workload to ensure deadlines are achieved.
- Willingness to travel in the UK and overseas
Desirable primary software/system skills:
- Java / JavaFX / Netbeans / Eclipse
- C++ / Visual Studio
- HMI design and development / User-centric design
- Information Assurance, Cyber/Network Security
- Software testing & verification
- Experience/familiarity with software development lifecycles
- UML / Enterprise Architect for system/software design
- Atlassian Toolset (JIRA, BitBucket, Confluence)

Key accountabilities
- Responsible for supporting and delivering key software products across the product lifecycle.
- Working closely with the project teams including the System Design Authority, Engineering Manager and Team Engineers
- Attending client and supplier meetings.
- Attending and supporting equipment tests.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve full SC (Security Clearance).
