Thorn Baker Industrial Recruitment are recruiting for an experienced Bandsaw Operative, Saw Operator or Machine Operative to join an established engineering and metal stockholding business based in Markham Vale.

This is a long-term temp-to-perm opportunity for someone with previous experience in bandsaw operation, metal cutting, machine operation, engineering or manufacturing.

The Role

As a Bandsaw Operative, you will be responsible for operating horizontal bandsaw machinery to cut steel, metal and alloy materials accurately to specification.

Your duties will include:

• Operating horizontal bandsaws to cut metal and steel materials
• Setting and adjusting machinery to meet cutting requirements
• Working from technical drawings, cutting lists and job specifications
• Measuring finished materials using verniers, micrometers and gauges
• Carrying out quality checks to ensure materials meet required specifications
• Loading and unloading heavy materials safely
• Following production schedules and meeting daily targets
• Maintaining a clean and safe working area
• Following all health and safety procedures and PPE requirements

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will have previous experience as a:

• Bandsaw Operative
• Bandsaw Operator
• Saw Operator
• Saw Operative
• Machine Operative
• Machine Operator
• Metal Cutting Operative

Experience within engineering, manufacturing, steel, metal, fabrication or other industrial environments would be highly beneficial.

You should also be comfortable working with heavy materials, using measuring equipment and reading technical drawings or cutting lists.

Reliability, good attention to detail and a strong approach to health and safety are essential.
