This is an excellent opportunity for a highly capable Project Controls professional to take ownership of developing, enhancing and managing integrated project controls environments across complex infrastructure programmes. We are looking for an individual whose expertise is centred on Project Controls leadership, performance management, reporting, analytics and continuous improvement, rather than a planning-focused background.
The Role
As Project Controls Manager, you will be responsible for establishing and evolving a robust project controls framework that enables effective project and portfolio performance management across cost, schedule, risk and change.
You will work closely with senior stakeholders, project teams and functional leads to drive data-led decision-making, improve controls maturity and deliver meaningful performance insights across the programme.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish, develop and continuously improve project controls environments and governance frameworks across complex rail and infrastructure programmes.
- Lead the integration of cost, schedule, risk and change controls to provide a single source of project performance information.
- Develop and maintain project and portfolio-level dashboards that provide clear visibility of programme performance and strategic objectives.
- Drive reporting automation and data-driven performance management initiatives to improve efficiency, consistency and decision-making.
- Deliver forecasting, variance analysis and performance analytics to identify trends, risks and opportunities.
- Produce high-quality project controls reports, insights and recommendations for senior leadership and key stakeholders.
- Develop and implement project controls standards, processes and best practices across the programme.
- Support project teams in identifying performance issues and implementing corrective actions where required.
- Monitor programme health, performance indicators, forecast outcomes and strategic delivery risks.
- Lead controls maturity assessments and continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing reporting, governance and project delivery effectiveness.
- Collaborate with Commercial, Project Management, Risk and Engineering teams to ensure alignment across all project controls disciplines.
- Provide leadership, mentoring and technical guidance to project controls teams where required.
About You
We are looking for a proven Project Controls Manager with experience leading and developing project controls functions within major infrastructure environments.
Essential Experience
- Demonstrable experience establishing, managing and improving project controls environments on complex programmes.
- Strong background in integrated project controls, including cost, schedule, risk and change management.
- Experience developing project and portfolio-level performance dashboards and reporting solutions.
- Proven ability to implement reporting automation and data-driven performance management approaches.
- Strong experience in forecasting, variance analysis, performance measurement and programme analytics.
- Experience driving controls maturity, governance enhancement and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ability to interpret complex project data and present meaningful insights to senior stakeholders.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Experience working within major infrastructure, transportation, rail or London Underground environments.
Desirable Experience
- Experience implementing project controls frameworks across large-scale capital programmes.
- Knowledge of business intelligence and performance reporting tools such as Power BI or similar analytics platforms.
- Experience working within regulated or complex infrastructure delivery environments.
- Professional Project Controls, Cost Management or Programme Management qualifications.
Why Apply?
