We are currently recruiting on behalf of a warm, nurturing primary school in St Helens for a committed and enthusiastic Early Years Teaching Assistant to join their team ASAP, on a full-time, long-term basis.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Early Years practitioner who is passionate about supporting young children during the crucial early years stages of their education and development.
The Role
As an Early Years Teaching Assistant, you will support children within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), helping to create a safe, stimulating and engaging learning environment. Working closely with the class teacher, you will support pupils through both adult-led and child-initiated activities, promoting learning through play and helping children develop key social, emotional and academic skills.
The role will also involve providing support for children with additional needs and assisting with observations and assessments.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting teaching and learning within the EYFS setting
- Assisting with the planning and delivery of engaging learning activities
- Supporting children’s development across all areas of the EYFS curriculum
- Delivering interventions and targeted support where required
- Supporting children’s personal, social and emotional development
- Assisting with observations, assessments and progress tracking
- Providing support for children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
- Creating positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents
Requirements
- Previous experience working within an EYFS setting in a UK primary school or nursery
- Strong knowledge and understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework
- Experience supporting children’s early development through play-based learning
- Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A nurturing, patient and proactive approach
Essential Qualifications
- A recognised Level 2 or Level 3 Early Years, Childcare or Teaching Assistant qualification is essential
- Applicants without a recognised Early Years qualification will not be considered
Desirable Qualifications
- Paediatric First Aid certification
- Additional SEN training or qualifications
- Experience of supporting speech and language development
