The Opportunity

We are supporting an NHS Trust in the West Midlands with the appointment of a Locum Consultant in Clinical Oncology, specialising in colorectal oncology.

This is an excellent opportunity for a suitably experienced Consultant Clinical Oncologist to join an established oncology service and contribute to the delivery of high-quality, specialist cancer care.

The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, providing specialist clinical oncology input with a particular focus on colorectal cancer patients throughout the assignment.

The Role

The successful candidate will provide Consultant-level Clinical Oncology services as part of the Trust's established specialist cancer team.

The role will include:

• Providing specialist clinical oncology care with a focus on colorectal cancer
• Assessing and managing patients undergoing cancer treatment
• Providing specialist advice and clinical decision-making within the colorectal oncology service
• Working closely with colorectal surgeons, radiologists, pathologists and other members of the multidisciplinary team
• Participating in relevant multidisciplinary team meetings
• Supporting outpatient clinics and other clinical oncology services as required
• Developing and reviewing individual patient treatment plans
• Providing appropriate advice and support to junior medical staff and the wider clinical team
• Maintaining accurate and comprehensive clinical documentation
• Supporting safe, effective and patient-centred cancer care
• Participating in clinical governance, audit and service improvement activities
• Working collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary oncology team

What We're Looking For

Essential Requirements

• Full GMC registration with licence to practise
• Specialist experience in Clinical Oncology at Consultant level
• Appropriate experience in the management of colorectal malignancies
• Previous NHS Clinical Oncology experience
• Experience working within a multidisciplinary cancer team
• Strong clinical decision-making and communication skills
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Commitment to delivering safe, high-quality, patient-centred care

Desirable Requirements

• Previous experience within a UK NHS colorectal oncology service
• Broad experience across Clinical Oncology
• Experience in teaching and supervision of junior medical staff
• Experience in clinical audit, governance or service improvement
• Evidence of continued professional development within Clinical Oncology
