The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Locum Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist to support a well-established Obstetrics & Gynaecology Department in the East of England.

This opportunity offers a full-time locum contract within a busy and supportive acute hospital environment. It is ideally suited to experienced Consultants who are confident delivering high-quality care across both obstetric and gynaecological services while working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

You will play a senior clinical leadership role within the department, supporting maternity services, gynaecology clinics, inpatient care, and emergency pathways while ensuring the highest standards of patient safety, clinical excellence, and compassionate care.

What You'll Be Doing

• Provide consultant-level leadership across Obstetrics & Gynaecology services
• Deliver high-quality care across labour ward, antenatal, postnatal, inpatient, and outpatient settings
• Assess, diagnose, and manage a wide range of obstetric and gynaecological conditions
• Support the management of elective and emergency gynaecological cases
• Participate in labour ward cover and oversee the management of complex obstetric presentations
• Lead ward rounds, multidisciplinary team meetings, and clinical reviews
• Work closely with Midwives, Specialty Doctors, Registrars, Nurses, and Allied Health Professionals to ensure coordinated patient care
• Provide expert clinical advice and leadership within maternity and gynaecology services
• Supervise and support junior doctors and trainees
• Contribute to service development, audit, quality improvement, and clinical governance initiatives
• Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation
• Uphold the highest standards of patient safety, professionalism, and compassionate care

What We're Looking For

• Full GMC registration with licence to practise
• CCT in Obstetrics & Gynaecology or equivalent qualification (CESR)
• Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register for Obstetrics & Gynaecology, or eligibility for inclusion
• Significant UK experience working at Consultant level within Obstetrics & Gynaecology
• Experience managing both obstetric and gynaecological patients within an acute hospital setting
• Experience working effectively within multidisciplinary teams
• Strong clinical, leadership, and decision-making skills
• Excellent communication and organisational abilities
• Commitment to delivering outstanding patient-centred care
• Valid Right to Work in the UK (no visa sponsorship available)
