About the role

We are looking for a Systems Engineer to join us at SNC Mission Systems UK in St Athan. We provide tailored mission systems integration and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) solutions for the UK Government and its allies. It is an exciting time to join SNC Missions UK as we are expanding, you will get stuck into supporting a team of engineers in the integration of hardware and software solutions, optimizing performance, and ensuring systems meet operational needs. No two days will be the same as you will work across the lifecycle of projects, from requirements gathering and design to testing and deployment, ensuring the delivery of robust and reliable systems to our Defence customers. Responsibilities

  • Support the factory acceptance process of uncrewed systems, and fault find to sub assembly level should any issues arise.
  • Conduct Quality Assurance activities to ensure UxVs are delivered to the persistently repeated high standard
  • Integrate hardware, software, and networking components into a cohesive system, ensuring seamless functionality.
  • Conduct system testing to ensure functionality, performance, and compliance with requirements.
  • Assist in the identification of technical issues and provide input into a resolution throughout the product/system lifecycle.
  • Maintain technical documentation, including system designs, test plans, and technical reports.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project managers, software engineers, and hardware specialists, to deliver successful projects.
  • Able to recommend system improvements to enhance system performance and efficiency, in order to remain at the forefront of emerging technologies.

Requirements 

  • Served a full Engineering apprenticeship and/or qualified to a minimum of NVQ level 3 or equivalent in a relevant engineering subject.
  • Relevant experience as a qualified engineer, preferably in unmanned systems or similar autonomous systems, in a Defence or aerospace environment.
  • A good practical understanding of mechanical and/or electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with CAD and CAE design tools.
  • Good understanding of systems integration, testing, and validation processes.
  • Experience of Defence standards and requirements is advantageous.
