Premises Operative (Site Team)
Location: The Swindon Academy
Reporting to: Cluster Estates Manager
Contract: Full-Time, 37.5 hours per week
Salary: £24,978 per annum plus 10% shift allowance

We are looking for a dedicated Premises Operative to join our Site Team and play a vital role in ensuring our Academy remains a safe, compliant, and well-maintained place for students, staff, and visitors.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with strong maintenance skills who enjoys a varied role and thrives as part of a supportive and hardworking team.
The Role
Working under the direction of the Cluster Estates Manager, you will be responsible for a wide range of site, maintenance, security, and grounds duties, including:
- Supporting the day-to-day operation, safety, and security of the Academy site
- Carrying out general maintenance, repairs, and handyman tasks
- Assisting with grounds maintenance, gardening, and litter management
- Monitoring heating, cooling, and building management systems
- Conducting fire and building safety checks
- Supporting school events, lettings, and educational trips
- Managing deliveries, furniture moves, and site logistics
- Working with contractors and ensuring compliance with health and safety procedures
- Maintaining Academy vehicles and supporting transport activities when required.
What We're Looking For
The successful candidate will:
- Have practical maintenance, facilities, or site management experience
- Be able to carry out minor plumbing, electrical, decorating, and repair tasks
- Demonstrate a positive, flexible, and proactive approach to work
- Have excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
- Be committed to maintaining high standards of health, safety, and security
- Be confident using Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Be willing to undertake training and professional development opportunities.
Essential Requirement
- Full driving licence with Category B1 entitlement.
