About the role

Are you a hands-on Machining Cell Leader?

Or are you looking to step into this role?

Hours of work are Mon - Thu - 08:00 - 16:45 and a lovely 2pm finish on a Friday.

Your main responsibility will be to oversee the day-to-day operations of a busy machining department within a precision environment.

You will work closely with Production, Planning and Purchasing teams, to ensure production targets are achieved

You will be able to run department competently in the managers absence.

Duties:

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • create and optimise CNC programs for DMG Mori machines using offline programming tools.
  • set up and operate CNC machines (lathes, mills, drills) according to job requirements.
  • load raw materials and verify tooling setup.
  • interpret technical drawings and ensure dimensional accuracy.
  • perform in-process inspections using precision measuring instruments.
  • monitor machine performance and report issues promptly.
  • work closely with programmers and machining production manager to meet production schedules.

What's needed:

  • experience operating CNC machines in a production environment
  • ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • skilled in using precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges)
  • strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • proficiency in DMG Mori programming platforms (Celos, VPS). (preferred)
  • strong knowledge of CNC machining processes and tooling
  • experience with CAD/CAM software (e.g., Siemens NX, Mastercam)
