The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Locum Specialty Doctor in Obstetrics & Gynaecology to support a well-established Obstetrics & Gynaecology Department in the South West of England.

This opportunity offers a full-time locum contract within a busy and supportive acute hospital environment. It is ideally suited to experienced Specialty Doctors who are confident managing both obstetric and gynaecological patients while working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care.

You will play a vital role in supporting maternity and gynaecology services, contributing to patient assessment, treatment, and ongoing management across labour ward, antenatal, postnatal, inpatient, outpatient, and emergency care settings.

What You'll Be Doing

• Provide Specialty Doctor-level support across Obstetrics & Gynaecology services
• Assess, diagnose, and manage a wide range of obstetric and gynaecological presentations
• Participate in labour ward, antenatal, postnatal, and gynaecology ward activities
• Deliver care through outpatient clinics and emergency gynaecology services
• Support elective and emergency procedures in accordance with departmental requirements
• Work closely with Consultants, Midwives, Nurses, and Allied Health Professionals to provide high-quality patient care
• Participate in ward rounds, multidisciplinary team meetings, and clinical handovers
• Contribute to the management of both routine and complex obstetric and gynaecological cases
• Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation
• Participate in clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement activities
• Ensure compliance with local and national clinical guidelines and standards
• Uphold the highest standards of patient safety, professionalism, and compassionate care

What We're Looking For

• Full GMC registration with licence to practise
• Significant UK experience within Obstetrics & Gynaecology
• Previous experience working at Specialty Doctor, Staff Grade, Associate Specialist, or Registrar level
• Competence in managing obstetric and gynaecological presentations within an acute hospital setting
• Experience working within labour ward and gynaecology services
• Strong clinical, organisational, and communication skills
• Excellent clinical judgement and decision-making abilities
• Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
• Commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care
• Valid Right to Work in the UK (no visa sponsorship available)
