TSR Legal is delighted to be working with a highly regarded South Wales law firm on a senior opportunity to lead the next phase of development of its Corporate practice.

This is an unusual opportunity for an experienced Corporate Partner or senior corporate lawyer who is ready to take genuine ownership of a successful and established area of the business.

The foundations are already firmly in place. The firm has an established corporate client base, a strong flow of work and longstanding relationships with businesses and entrepreneurs across South Wales. The opportunity now is to build on that success and take the Corporate practice into its next phase.

Rather than joining to create a department from scratch, the successful individual will be stepping into a platform that already has the clients, reputation and work to support further growth.

The Opportunity

As Head of Corporate, you will take responsibility for the continued development and direction of the practice, working closely with the firm’s senior leadership team.

You will have the opportunity to:

• Lead an established Corporate practice and determine its future direction.

• Build on existing client relationships and develop the department’s already strong pipeline of work.

• Advise on a broad range of corporate matters, including acquisitions and disposals, investments, shareholder arrangements, management buyouts, reorganisations and wider strategic corporate advice.

• Become a key senior adviser to an established portfolio of businesses, entrepreneurs, shareholders and management teams.

• Further develop the firm’s profile within the South Wales corporate market.

• Identify opportunities to grow existing relationships and introduce new clients to the wider firm.

• Work closely with colleagues across Commercial Property, Employment, Litigation and other specialist teams to develop broader client relationships.

• Lead, mentor and develop the Corporate team as the department grows.

• Play a meaningful role in shaping the firm’s wider commercial strategy.

The Person

We are looking for an experienced corporate lawyer with the ambition and credibility to lead an established practice.

You may already be a Corporate Partner, Head of Corporate or Legal Director, or you may be a senior corporate lawyer who has reached the point where you are ready to take the next step and assume responsibility for a department.

You will bring:

• Significant experience across mergers and acquisitions, disposals, investments, shareholder agreements, management buyouts, restructurings and general corporate advisory work.

• Strong technical ability combined with sound commercial judgement.

• The confidence to lead complex transactions and act as a trusted adviser to senior business owners and management teams.

• A proven ability to build and maintain long term client relationships.

• The commercial instinct to recognise opportunities and develop relationships naturally.

• Leadership experience and the ability to support and develop colleagues as the department continues to grow.

• The personality and credibility to become a visible senior figure within the firm’s Corporate offering and wider South Wales business community.

Most importantly, you will be someone who sees the opportunity in an established platform.

This is not about inheriting a struggling department or being asked to generate work from nothing. The work and client relationships are already there. The next step is to develop them, strengthen the team and establish an even more prominent Corporate practice.
