About the role
Court of Protection Administration Officer (Band E - Administrative Officer)
Location: Bristol Civil and Family Justice Centre, 2 Redcliff Street, Bristol, BS1 6GR
Working Days / Hours: Monday to Friday, 37 Hours per Week
Working Pattern: Full Time, Office Based
Pay Rate: £12.86ph
Level of Clearance Required: Basic DBS
If you're organised, confident with people, and keen to contribute to the smooth running of Civil and Family Court activity, our Client is hiring for a reputed client in Bristol. This is a full-time, office-based role for 6 months (with a high likelihood of extension)
What you'll be doing:
* Preparing papers and files for court, tribunals, hearings and meetings
* Producing court and tribunal documents, plus creating and updating records on HMCTS systems and data input
* Distributing and dispatching post after opening, and handling related admin processes
* Booking and organising meeting rooms and supporting training activities
* Drafting standard correspondence, minutes and reports
* Clerking Civil and Family Court hearings and tribunals
* Handling telephone, written and face-to-face enquiries
* Processing casework, including court orders, claims, fines and legal aid documentation
* Checking and verifying documents, records and case files for accuracy and compliance
* Collecting information for reports, returns and court bundles; producing basic statistical reports and processing financial information when required
* Providing excellent customer service to court users, judiciary and stakeholders
* Supporting continuous improvement and problem-solving in the team
What you'll bring:
* 5 GCSEs (A*-C) or equivalent (or NVQ Business Administration Level II) or relevant administration experience
* Previous administration experience in a busy office environment
* Strong customer service skills, with excellent verbal and written communication
* Great organisational ability, prioritising competing workloads, and working independently when needed
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with good IT and keyboard skills
* Experience working effectively as part of a team
* Comfort working in a court environment and handling sensitive information
* Ability to clerk Civil and Family Court hearings and work alongside members of the Judiciary
Additional information:
* The role may involve exposure to distressing evidence within Family Court hearings
* Basic DBS required (clearance level stated as Basic DBS)
* Interviews will be via Microsoft Teams; training is provided (HMCTS induction and role-specific training)
* Criminal convictions will be considered on a case-by-case basis
