£365 - £500 per day

Morson are currently supporting the recruitment of a project manager in Templecombe for one of our established Defence clients. Responsible for the successful delivery of engineering projects delivered to external customers you will manage bids, studies, development contracts, new build and repairs. The role requires strong leadership, professional project management expertise, excellent stakeholder management, team building skills, and a proactive approach to identifying and managing risks and opportunities. We’re ideally looking for an Engineering Project Manager with experience of a highly regulated industry such as Defence, Aerospace or Nuclear.

As a delivery focused project manager you would be working in a matrix organisation, focusing on enhancing customer experience and following established processes where possible. The role is being offered on an initial 6-month contract, with possibility of extension. Hybrid working is available, with a minimum of 3 days a week on site in Templecombe. We can offer a rate of £365.68 per day PAYE or £500 per day Umbrella inside IR35.

Key Responsibilities:

• Leadership and management – motivating and supporting the Project Team and individuals within the Project Team
• Managing stakeholders, in particular customer and supplier relationships – building trust and confidence through open dialogue and leveraging adjacent functions as appropriate
• Defining Project Execution Strategies and leading the creation of Project Baselines and structures for the Cabinet Integrator and UWTC Work Packages
• Ensuring that appropriate KPIs are established and controlled for Project outcomes
• Ensuring robust Project Controls are deployed and effective
• Representing the Project through established governance – both lifecycle Gates and periodic Project Reviews
• Management of the Cabinet Integrator and UWTC Work Package Cash profile, ensuring timely invoicing of the customer

Requirements:

• A proven track record of delivering successful projects in a context relevant to Defence engineering projects
• Experience Leading and managing multi-disciplinary teams
• Experience managing customer and supplier relationships
• Delivered engineering projects in a complex, multi-site organisation
• Prior project financial and contractual management
• Demand/business planning principles in a project context with a focus on the reliable forecasting of resource requirements
• Governance experience

Desirable Experience

• Experience of leading a range of different project types – Design & Manufacture, Service & Support, Transformation etc
• Appropriate knowledge/experience of the Defence industry
• IPMA and/or other relevant professional Project Management qualifications appropriate to grade (APM PFQ qualification or equivalent)

Recognising the RESTRICTED nature of the work, suitable candidates will be SC cleared or eligible for this level of clearance
