The Opportunity

We are supporting an NHS Trust in the East of England with the appointment of a Locum Consultant Gynae Oncology Surgeon.

This is an excellent opportunity for a suitably qualified Consultant Gynae Oncology Surgeon to join an established NHS service and provide high-quality specialist surgical care to patients.

The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary Gynae Oncology team, supporting the delivery of specialist surgical services and contributing to safe, effective and patient-centred care.

The Role

The successful candidate will provide Consultant-level Gynaecological Oncology surgical services within the Trust.

The role will include:

  • Providing Consultant-level specialist Gynae Oncology surgical care
  • Undertaking appropriate gynaecological oncology surgical procedures
  • Assessing, diagnosing and managing patients with suspected or confirmed gynaecological malignancies
  • Supporting the delivery of specialist outpatient and inpatient services
  • Contributing to multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings and clinical decision-making
  • Working collaboratively with other members of the Gynae Oncology and wider multidisciplinary team
  • Providing specialist clinical advice to colleagues and referring clinicians
  • Supporting safe and effective patient pathways from diagnosis through to treatment and follow-up
  • Maintaining accurate clinical documentation and ensuring high standards of patient care
  • Contributing to clinical governance, audit and service improvement activities where required
  • Supporting junior medical staff and colleagues where appropriate
  • Maintaining high standards of clinical safety, professionalism and patient-centred care

What We're Looking For

Essential Requirements

  • Full GMC registration with licence to practise
  • Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, or relevant experience for a locum appointment
  • Appropriate specialist experience in Gynaecological Oncology
  • Previous NHS Consultant-level experience
  • Strong experience in the assessment and management of gynaecological oncology patients
  • Relevant specialist surgical experience
  • Ability to work independently and effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Excellent clinical decision-making and communication skills
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centred specialist care
  • Availability to work 4 days per week

Desirable Requirements

  • Previous experience working within an NHS Gynae Oncology service
  • Experience within a specialist Gynae Oncology MDT
  • Experience in clinical audit, governance or service improvement
  • Teaching and supervision experience
  • Experience supporting service development and pathway improvement
