We’re looking for an Operator 2 Chem Process. Based at our Capenhurst site, you’ll work as a part of a multi skilled and flexible team across the enrichment or chemical processing facilities on the Capenhurst Site to support tasks specific to the delivery of operational KPIs that ensure targeted outputs are achieved. Roles associated with Operator 2 post are as per the competency framework and carried out on a day pattern including the co-ordination of work control and SSOW.

What you’ll do:  

  • Execute tasks in line with approved procedures to ensure they are performed safely and in a consistent way.
  • Be an active participant to promote Zero Harm initiatives and thereby maintain a safe, reliable and secure working environment
  • Carry out Emergency roles as per Capenhurst Emergency Arrangements Plan
  • Holds roles within and executes the SSOW process
  • Maintains own competency and capabilities with respect to training
  • Engage in continuous improvement
  • Maintains Housekeeping standard
  • Carries out reliability activities to process plant or equipment in line with competencies and training
  • Ensure plant and equipment are made available for work execution as per the maintenance schedule

What do you need to thrive in this role?

  • Grade C or above in English, Maths and Science or equivalent vocational qualification.
  • Process/Craft apprentice or equivalent Chemical/Nuclear Process plant operating experience
  • Chemical/Nuclear Process plant operating experience
  • Knowledge of Plant safety cases, environmental permits, radiological and security procedures to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Knowledge of Plant Systems, Utility Systems and the interactions between these systems across the facilities.
  • Good knowledge of the plant layouts, system design characteristics and safety-related systems
  • Good knowledge of the physical, chemical and radiological characteristics of the facility
  • Proficient in the use of site computer systems and applications

Security vetting

Due to the nature of the industry that Urenco operates in, all personnel regardless of employment status working for Urenco are required to obtain security clearance at the level required for their role. Security clearances are assessed in accordance with regulations and official guidance issued by the relevant competent authorities for national security vetting. In certain circumstances, additional enhanced security clearance considerations apply to roles within Urenco owing to the particular activities that the Urenco Group undertakes in relation to uranium enrichment. Successful candidates will need to satisfy security requirements, and all offers of appointment are made subject to the successful approval of all checks initiated.
