As the authority for the Royal Navy’s nuclear submarine capability, the Submarine Directorate oversees one of the most complex and critical elements of UK defence. Covering everything from in‑service management to long‑term fleet modernisation, the directorate ensures the Submarine Flotilla remains safe, reliable, and ready to meet national security requirements.

Clyde Transformation Programme (CTP) is a Navy Command programme delivering critical infrastructure at His Majesty’s Naval Base Clyde to support the Royal Navy’s current and future submarine fleet. The programme includes new-build facilities, refurbishment of existing assets, and delivery of a resilient out-of-water engineering capability.

You’ll be based at either HMNB Clyde, HMS Caledonia or Kentigern House.

This role may require occasional travel to other sites to support programme delivery, stakeholder engagement, and key activities across the wider organisation.

Please note, due to the level of security, this role is reserved for sole UK nationals only and requires you to have lived in the UK for the last 10 years to obtain Developed Vetting (DV) security clearance. Clearance must be obtained without any caveats that prevent you from carrying out the role you have been recruited for. Are you passionate about protecting sensitive information and ensuring security is embedded throughout complex programmes? Clyde Transformation Programme (CTP) is looking for a proactive Security Manager to lead the delivery of security across a diverse portfolio of critical defence projects. In this role, you will provide expert advice, manage security risks, ensure compliance with defence security policies, and work closely with programme teams, stakeholders and industry partners to protect classified information and vital infrastructure. Your work will help deliver secure, resilient capabilities, safeguard national security interests, and ensure the successful delivery of one of Defence's most significant transformation programmes.

As a Security Manager, you will lead the security function across a major programme portfolio, helping to protect sensitive and classified information and ensuring security requirements are considered throughout project delivery. Working across CTP you will provide consistent security standards, advice and guidance to project teams, enabling them to deliver their objectives securely and effectively.

You will lead a team of Project Security Officers and work closely with colleagues, suppliers and stakeholders across Defence to identify and manage security risks. You will ensure that security measures are embedded from the earliest stages of a project, helping teams understand potential threats, reduce vulnerabilities and support secure delivery throughout the project lifecycle.

You will provide expert advice on information, physical and infrastructure security matters, ensuring that sensitive information is handled appropriately and released only when authorised. You will oversee the development and maintenance of security documentation, contribute to project approvals and ensure security requirements are reflected in project plans and decision-making.

A key part of the role is building strong relationships with project teams and stakeholders to promote good security practices and ensure compliance with security standards. You will also work with specialists and external partners to ensure that security controls are implemented effectively, physical security measures are fit for purpose, and projects can operate securely while meeting their delivery objectives.

We value flexible ways of working. This role requires regular onsite attendance (around 60% of the working week) to benefit from face-to-face collaboration, while offering flexibility of hours to support work life balance and business needs. During the initial period, you may be asked to attend more frequently to get familiar with the site, team, and responsibilities

What you will be doing:

• Lead and develop a team of Project Security Officers, providing advice, guidance and support to ensure consistent security standards across projects.
• Work with project teams and stakeholders to identify security risks, implement effective controls and ensure security requirements are considered throughout project delivery.
• Manage the creation and maintenance of security documentation, provide security input to project approvals, and advise on the secure handling and release of sensitive information.
• Support the implementation of physical, information and cyber security measures, working with internal and external partners to help projects remain secure, resilient and compliant.

Desirable Experience

• Knowledge of MoD security policies and procedures.
• Experience of working in the nuclear industry, either MOD or civilian.
• Member of the Security Institute
