HMRC is transforming the way integration capabilities are delivered across government. We are seeking an experienced Lead Platform Product Owner to lead the strategy, development and adoption of our enterprise Integration Platform as a Service (iPaaS) capability.
This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for a strategic platform that enables secure, scalable and reusable integration services across HMRC. You will shape the future of enterprise integration, helping delivery teams adopt modern approaches that accelerate delivery, improve resilience and reduce complexity across the organisation. Working at the intersection of product, technology and strategy, you will lead the evolution of a platform that supports critical public services used by millions of customers and businesses every day.
This role is ideal for an experienced platform product leader who combines deep integration expertise with strong strategic thinking, stakeholder influence and a relentless focus on customer outcomes.
Job description
As Lead Platform Product Owner, you will define and deliver the vision, strategy and roadmap for HMRC's enterprise integration platform, ensuring it continues to meet organisational needs whilst driving innovation and continuous improvement.
You will work closely with engineering, architecture, security and delivery leaders to create a platform that enables teams to build and operate integrations securely, consistently and at scale.

You will:-
- Set the strategic vision and long-term roadmap for HMRC's enterprise integration platform.
- Own platform priorities, investment decisions and delivery outcomes.
- Lead the development of platform capabilities, standards, governance and adoption models.
- Drive the adoption of modern integration approaches, including API-led, event-driven and hybrid architectures.
- Use customer insight, usage data and performance metrics to inform prioritisation and investment decisions.
- Champion a product-led approach, ensuring the platform delivers measurable value for users and the wider organisation.
- Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders, suppliers and delivery teams to influence strategic decisions and drive adoption.
- Support and enable federated delivery teams whilst maintaining consistency, security and interoperability across the enterprise.
- Embed security, resilience, compliance and operational excellence into platform services by design.
- Lead organisational change, helping teams adopt new technologies, standards and ways of working.
Essential Criteria:
• Experience working with leading enterprise iPaaS platforms such as Boomi/Mulesoft/Kong and integration ecosystems.
• Recent hands-on experience of implementing and operating iPaaS solutions in complex enterprise environments, with a strong understanding of current product capabilities, best practices, and delivery approaches.
• Significant experience of owning and evolving enterprise-scale integration platforms or platform services, including responsibility for strategy, governance, roadmap development and delivery of measurable organisational outcomes.
• Strong knowledge of modern enterprise integration technologies and architectures, including API-led, event-driven and hybrid integration approaches.
• Proven ability to identify, prioritise and deliver customer value through platform-led products and services, using data, user insight and performance measures to inform decisions.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with experience building relationships and securing commitment across senior technical, operational and business audiences.
Desirable Criteria:
• Industry-recognised integration certifications.
• Professional Scrum Product Owner (PSPO), Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or equivalent product certification.
• Knowledge of ITIL v4 and modern service management practices.
