Job description

Want to use your technical skills on vehicles built for extreme terrain and global Commando operations?

We’re recruiting Vehicle Technicians across three Commando Force locations, each with its own mix of vehicles, equipment and working environments. We’re offering the chance to work on specialist fleets that support training, exercises and operations in the United Kingdom and overseas.

You’ll join a skilled Equipment Support team that keeps vehicles safe, reliable and ready when they’re needed. Whether your experience is in light vehicles, heavy goods vehicles, plant, recovery, specialist equipment or military engineering, you’ll be able to apply your skills in a role with real variety and purpose.

Work on specialist fleets across Commando Force

  • 11 Amphibious Trials and Training Squadron is a standout option if you’re looking for variety and specialist engineering. You’ll support amphibious, logistic, plant and recovery vehicles, including beach recovery vehicles, tracked all terrain carriers, military trucks, Land Rovers and heavy plant equipment. It’s a role that brings together automotive, plant and specialist vehicle skills in a setting that’s very different from a standard garage or workshop.
  • 40 Commando is ideal if you enjoy working on agile, off-road vehicles that support a fast-moving operational force. You’ll help maintain platforms such as quad bikes, MRZR vehicles, JACKAL patrol vehicles, PINZGAUER utility vehicles, Land Rovers and military support vehicles. It’s a practical, hands-on environment where your work helps keep people and equipment mobile in demanding conditions.
  • Commando Logistic Regiment offers scale, breadth and technical challenge. You’ll work with the largest and most diverse vehicle fleet within the United Kingdom Commando Force, including heavy logistics vehicles, recovery platforms, tracked all-terrain vehicles, bulk fuel vehicles, material handlers, Land Rovers and VIKING vehicles. This is a strong choice if you want variety, responsibility and the chance to support the logistic capability that enables Commando operations around the world.

What you’ll be doing

  • Service, inspect, maintain and repair a wide range of specialist, logistic, plant and tactical vehicles.
  • Diagnose faults and complete practical repairs to recognised engineering standards.
  • Keep vehicles and equipment safe, reliable and ready to support training, exercises and operations.
  • Record maintenance activity clearly and accurately using Ministry of Defence systems.
  • Work closely with colleagues, supervisors and customers to solve problems and keep work moving.
  • Share your knowledge and help create a safe, professional and supportive workshop environment.
