The Opportunity

We are currently seeking an experienced Emergency Nurse Practitioner (Band 7) to support an NHS Minor Injuries Unit (MIU) in South West England.

This temporary locum opportunity offers flexible working within a busy and well-established urgent care setting. The role is ideally suited to experienced Emergency Nurse Practitioners who are confident assessing, diagnosing and treating patients presenting with minor injuries and illnesses. Independent prescribing experience is highly desirable, although it is not essential.

You will join an established multidisciplinary team, delivering high-quality, patient-centred care while supporting the efficient operation of the Minor Injuries Unit.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Assess, diagnose and manage patients presenting with minor injuries and illnesses.
  • Independently treat a wide range of conditions within the scope of an NHS Minor Injuries Unit.
  • Request and interpret diagnostic investigations, including X-rays where appropriate.
  • Undertake wound care, suturing, splinting and the management of minor trauma presentations.
  • Prescribe medications in line with local policies and clinical guidelines where qualified to do so.
  • Provide health advice, treatment plans and onward referrals as required.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in line with NHS standards.
  • Work collaboratively with GPs, nurses, allied health professionals and the wider multidisciplinary team.
  • Contribute to the delivery of safe, effective and patient-focused urgent care services.

What We're Looking For

  • Active NMC registration.
  • Current Band 7 Emergency Nurse Practitioner experience within the NHS.
  • Relevant recent UK experience working in an Emergency Department, Urgent Treatment Centre or Minor Injuries Unit.
  • Evidence of ENP qualification and autonomous practice.
  • Independent prescribing qualification (V300) preferred but not essential.
  • Experience requesting and interpreting X-rays is desirable.
  • Strong clinical assessment, decision-making and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of an established multidisciplinary team.
  • Valid Right to Work in the UK (please note we do not offer visa sponsorship).
